Clear Aligner Therapy (Invisalign)
What is Clear Aligner Therapy (Invisalign)?
Clear aligner therapy, known as Invisalign, is an orthodontic option that corrects malocclusion issues as well as overcrowding and misalignment. Invisalign has been used for years to perfectly straighten teeth without the use of metal brackets or wiring. Clear aligner therapy is ideal for teens and adults who want to straighten their smile but don’t want to have to wear metal brackets. The process of straightening teeth using this method is quick, easy and noninvasive.
Why would you need Clear Aligner Therapy (Invisalign)?
You may need or want clear aligner therapy if you have misaligned, crooked and crowded teeth. The treatment can even help with malocclusion problems like overbites and underbites. Clear aligner therapy may be a better option for you in comparison to metal braces if you don’t want others knowing you’re wearing an orthodontic appliance. A consultation and examination can determine if you may benefit from Invisalign.
What makes you a good candidate for Clear Aligner Therapy (Invisalign)?
Teens and adults are the best candidates for clear aligner therapy. The process of straightening your teeth relies on the clear trays being worn for at least 22 hours a day. Because of this, you or your child must be committed to wearing the trays and keeping them in place. You’re a good candidate for Invisalign if you’re ready to correct your smile using a less obvious method than metal braces.
What can be expected with Clear Aligner Therapy (Invisalign)?
You’ll have a consultation in our office which includes an exam, impressions and several x-rays. This gives us the chance to create a personalized treatment plan that’s right for you. The impressions are used to create your first aligner trays. You’ll be instructed to wear the trays for at least 22 hours a day and to remove them when cleaning your teeth and eating. You’ll come back in after a few weeks to have more impressions taken and new trays made. Treatment can take as little as six months to about two or three years.
