All this happens due to the hormonal changes throughout the pregnancy. These changes can also wreak havoc on the oral health of women. Don’t forget to floss at least once a day. Because floss helps clean trapped food bacteria and particle in between the teeth.

Most women don’t feel good at the time of pregnancy, especially in their first trimester. But make sure to ingest a diet rich in whole foods and balanced micronutrients. Ingest a variety of:

  • Vegetables
  • Whole grains
  • Dairy Products
  • Fruits

Instead of sodas and juices, try to consume milk and water. avoid ingesting foods which are:

  • Starchy or sugary
  • Cookies or cakes
  • Candies
  • Dried fruit

All these starchy and sugary items can attack their gums as well as teeth. Proper nutrition tips are not just good for their oral health, but also great for their overall health as well as keep your baby healthy in the womb.

At the time of pregnancy, women should start to gargle their mouth with salt water. Sea salt may minimize inflammation and redness as well as assist in healing their gums. Try this at least twice a day. Tips to make this dilute:

  • Take one teaspoon of salt in a glass of warm water
  • Swish the mixture in the mouth
  • And spit the solution out

One of the best ideas to prevent pregnancy gingivitis is to visit your dentist at least twice throughout the pregnancy.
